Mossberg 500 Retrograde Field vs Security

Hey guys, I am interested in buying a brand new Mossberg 500 Retrograde Field or Security. The field obviously comes with a 28" bird barrel with interchangeable choke tubes. The security model comes with an 18.5 cylinder bore barrel.

Now at the end of the day I want to have this shotgun for both field and defense with 2 barrels but I can't figure out what is the better way to go.

1. Do I buy the 500 Retrograde Security with the 18.5" cylinder bore barrel and then buy the 28" field barrel multi choke aftermarket?

2. Do I buy the 500 Field with the 28" multi choke field barrel and then buy the 20" all purpose barrel with multi chokes aftermarket?

This is where I'm struggling, do I want the 18.5" cylinder bore barrel or do I want the 20" all purpose barrel with removable chokes? Can the 20" barrel with a cylinder bore choke shoot 00 Buck just the same as the 18.5" with fixed cylinder bore?

All things being the same the 18.5" fixed cylinder bore kind of limits me to just security while the 20" all purpose multi choke can be used for security, rabbit, slugs, turkey?

SXP Winchester Field/Camp shotguns are reduced at numerous vendors.
Slightly over $500 if you do yer detctive work.

Gives both a threadd barrel with three chokes and a shorter cylinder bore barrel.

Pretty decent package.

I'd go with the win sxp too, I have a 500, every second or third shell falls out while cycling action. It's open on bottom, no loading gate like the sxp. Bought the sxp, never had that problem again. If you want a 500 I'll sell you mine. A shotgun that drops every second shell is kind of useless. And yes I tried size and make of different shells.

If you can get his 500 for a good price, do that , and ether give the shell stop a little bend or replace.

And I'd get the security first and shop around for a longer barrel, the longer ones come up on the EE often.

I imagine you'll get nearly the same pattern and velocity with something like Flitecontrol out of the 18.5" and the 20". The 28" is nice anyway for hunting with a longer sighting plain to me. I think the bigger question is that do you want rib or no rib on your short barrel as the 18.5" doesn't and the 20" does.
