Mossberg 500 w/C-Lect Choke - Steel Shot OK?

My Dad and I were thinking of doing a little goose hunting this year. He has a Mossberg 500 with the C-Lect choke. Is it safe to fire steel shot through this setup? I picked up some Kent 2.75", 12G, BB shotshells, and was wanting to use them for the hunt.

Keep the choke set to Modified or more open such as Improved Cylinder. Test fire on some paper to see which setting patterns the Kent BB's the best. The old 500 with a c-lect choke is still a pretty versatile shotgun and it will serve you well. Good luck goosin!

You should check with Havlin sales, but I am pretty sure Mossberg has recommended that you don't put steel through a c-lett. www.havlinsales.com
