Mossberg 535 and 500 barrel interchangeability ?

I have a Mossberg 535 Camo with 28" VR barrel for hunting but i'd like to buy a 18"-20" barrel for the range, and can't seem to find one specifically for the 535...

will a 500 barrel work on my 535? i understand the 500 barrel won't load a 3.5" shells, but i never used them anyway.

Pretty sure the length between receiver an where it screws in to the mag tube is different
