My front sight is canted to the right so I want to remove and replace it with a bead. What's the best way to remove the base?

I would think that it was Soldered on , so in Theory It would have to be Melted off ( the solder that is ) .
If you cannot do that it could be turned off on a Lathe using a mandrel to surport the barrel and keep it round .
Then again if you want to go bubba on it you can cut it off with a angle grinder with a cut off disk then buff the rest off with a flapper wheel disk .
Or just find a whole other barrel and forget about it .

Is the base canted or just the removal front sight post?

If it's just the post knock it out and check to see why it's canted. You may be able to fix it or replace it with another post.

Hold the barrel upside down; heat the sight base, not the barrel with either a MAP gas torch or preferably oxy-acetylene and it will fall off. I would expect it is not lead soldered, but silver soldered or silver bronze. Likely paste brazed with induction heat at the factory.

Trading is less hassle and mess; remember, you would need to properly jig the barrel to drill and tap to install a bead.
