Hello everyone, definitely a newbie question here so please don't bite my head off! I'm looking for a 590A1 model and obviously not much joy here availabiliyt-wise in Canada. Is it best just to keep trying my luck hunting online retailers nationwide, or can dealers actually secure these by backordering etc? What's your advice? I'm new to the shooting sports so really don't have a feel for how the supply chain works.

Depends what style you're looking for, tactical or hunting. There is a fairly decent used market for the A1s still. You may be best off to find a lightly used model on the secondary market instead of waiting for supply backlogs. It's worse now than I've seen it in the past decade. Between covid, ships blocking canals, huge demand etc.

EE is the best bet of course. Some gun shops have used/consignment so hop on the websites or your local shops, make a few calls if they're not web savvy, many shops arent. I'd say I've had decent luck on townpost as well but I take extra precautions there. I've seen some very illegal things on that platform. Folks trying to buy without pals, selling sketchy things etc. Healthy skepticism never hurt anyone.
