Mossberg 590A1

The Speedfeed stock carries extra shells in a tube inside the stock. I've heard mixed review on how well these work. I'd be sticking with a standard stock and use a Mesa or Tacstar sidesaddle and the Cali Comp Works strippers.

The rear sight on that SPX version from Epps looks pretty high. I don't know that you'd be able to get a decent cheekweld without using some kind of cheek riser pad. Also, other than the LCF, you're paying for a bayonet that you're going to use how many times ?

From the pics posted, the EESA gang appear to be using the 9-shot 590A1 with ghostring sights. Not sure if the front sight comes red, or it has been painted that way. Had a chance to shoot a buddy's 590 last night that was the exact same setup. He'd painted the front sight red and the rear ghostring white. Pretty much made the rear ring disappear completely.

All the internet chatter about the 590A1 being really noseheavy is just chatter. I didn't find it weighed any much different than my 870. Obviously it's going to be heavier by the extra 2 shells in the mag, but geez, some people need to get to a gym if they complain about that extra weight ;-)

I got my regular 590 a little while ago from Copper on the EE, great deal and great guy to deal with. Very happy so far.

My 590 came with speed feed, ghost rings and barrel shroud. Love using it for multi-gun matches and would definitely recommend it to others. :)

Not to hijack your thread but I just looked up what speed loaders are all about. Four round tubes eh? That would be perfect for the Mossberg 20" which can hold 8 in the tube. I may have to buy a 590 because I need everything possible to increase my time. LOL I'll have the get the forearm shell holders as well....LMAO...

Depending on what kind of matches you want to shoot in, the speedloaders may or may not be the ticket. In IPSC, they take you out of Standard. I remember a few years back when they first appeared on the scene people would try to use them and shells would go flying everywhere, to the great amusement of other shooters. I think they've figured out ways of using dowels or some such to help, but I think they are definitely something you need to practice with a fair bit.
