well i got my new mossberg 702 plinkster today.

.22lr

first impression is that its a nice overall firearm, nicely made and finished as most mossbergs are, very light weight, cheap plastic stock ( expected ) but the stock is finished nicely, there are no moulding lines or anything, it has a nice barrell ( blued ) and a smooth action.
the mags wobble around a little when seated, but i cant see it being much of an issue.

cost me $270 nz with a spare mag. not bad i think. i will run some rounds through it on the weekend ( tomorrow ) and post some pics of how it preforms.

but so far im happy with my purchase

i bought it without knowing anything about the rifle on the premise that my mossberg 930 was a great shotgun, despite what everyone said when i bought it .. probably a foolish reason for spending the best part of $300 but so far i am pleased with my purchase

its for pest control anyway so as long as it can drop the possums, pukeko's and rabbits, then i will be happy

Just had a look on wholesalesports.com and saw the rifle you are talking about. It is a nice looking .22. I would be interested in some range reports for accuracy and especially reliability. As with most .22's i'm sure it will be finiky with ammo types. I know pricing is way different in canada, but wss has that rifle listed for $140.00 new, so i am curious as to how it performs cause it could be quite a steal at that price!!

I have the Mossberg 702 (girlfriend has claimed it long ago). In a nutshell, it's a very light rifle, shoots quite well, although the shots tend to open up quickly when it warms up.

It hates Winchester ammo, and gets fussy somewheres near 300-350 rounds, more so than it used to. Easy to break apart and clean, or use a boresnake until the inside of the receiver is gross, then clean.

The main problem it has are stovepipes(with mine), catching the empty when the bolt returns. It doesnt put you out of comission, tilt gun to right, pull bolt, and you're good to go.
It has no sling swivel attachments though. Not the greatest thing on earth, but good enough for a bang about rifle. My .02

those were my main concerns ( still havent fired it yet :( didnt get the chance to over the weekend ) .
as far as pricing, our dollar is about $0.60 of yours ... so everything costs more here and then theres shipping and customs and dealer markups ..

as for the sling swivel, i got a machine screw stud with a nut from my gun shop this weekend, will put it through the bottom/lower side of the butt , and attach it to my single point sling.
