tried some Dyna points, 40gr...Walmart bulk box. in a new rifle...fired about 200rds....maybe 1 or 2 malfunctions.
Oh...then I put some oil on it....passed a bore snake thru it. put another 100rds of that stuff thru it...worked great..no malfunctions. Picked up some CCI 40gr hp subsonic.....fired about 100rds thru it...no malfunctions. question; I just picked 100rd pk of CCI 40gr standard velocity RN lead....standard velocity is 1070 fps,....while subsonic is 1050 fps. WHy is the standard only 20 fps faster? Would it not qualify as Subsonic as well?

this gun is excellent BTW,....even more reliable than my ruger 10/22 so far. I think the only downside is the cleaning process...which involves taking it apart....I guesss a PITA

The bullet's sonic crack when breaking the sound barrier takes mach 1 speeds (1116 FPS) ... So the standard velocity is below that, good question? ....

I agree with you, the gun is way better than a lot of internet whiners would have you believe.
I've shot about 5K of Blazer through mine in the last 6 months. The first couple of hundred were problematic, but only because the springs in the mags needed to set. After I followed people advice, filled them to capacity and let them sit for a week or so I've had no issues. In my last 3 outings (I usually shoot about 200/outing) I've had '0' failures.
As to the cleaning..it is a PITA to take apart, but I'm one of those who feel many people overclean their rimfires.
When I purchased mine I stripped it down to clean any gunk out of it. Since then (again 5000 rounds) I spray the action down after every outing with a good solvent/lube and run a weedwacker line with patches and solvent/lube down the barrel.
