Hi all I'm new to the site.So I'm sorry if this has already been brought up, I've been lookin for cheap sorry affordable fun and have come across the mossy 715t. I've read a lot of reviews on it, I know that it's just a 702 dressed up and I know people have mag problems but what do you expect for under $300.So to make along story short i was wondering what all you think.

It seams to be hit and miss.
I got one I get the odd jam depending on which brand of ammo I am feeding it, but overall I am happy with mine.
Others will say its crap and to stay away.

I had one and really enjoyed it. I purchased it for my nephew, but ended up keeping it when he got himself a SR22. So I played with it for a while. It takes a lot of AR accessories, so it's fun to dress up a little. The 25 round mags were fun. They just needed to be worn in or have a little 10 minute mod done to them to work. Gun itself was really accurate and reliable. All in all it was a fun little gun, but I sold it to a member here because I didn't shoot it enough to justify keeping it.

i run CCI mini mag through mine not a single issue. one of the best buys i have had in a long time! got me back into 22!!

It constantly stovepipes
I have tryed a lot of diffrent ammo in it.
It also tends to do fail to fire sometimes ...I believe I may have caused that issue by removing the mag without holding the bolt open first
The fireing pin hangs down ..but not all the time.
It will then also fail to eject this failed round.
I have found that by recocking it and fireing it upside down. it will fire that failed round every time.

IMHO....Poorly designed..junk

They should have made a mag relese that dident skin your knuckles because it barely sticks out enough

I have purchased a Ruger sr10/22
It fires all ammo i feed it with only the odd problem
Well worth the 200 extra dollars.

Lots of other guys like was said have little trouble with them

I hate mine

Some guys absolutely love them. Seems there were feeding issues with the early magazines but I hear it's mostly rectified. Also they're supposedly difficult to field strip for cleaning but hey, it's a 22 and you probably aren't going to clean it all that often anyways.

I may have an early mag...and need a fireing pin
And Yup...pita to strip and clean

I love mine! I have no more issues with mine than my buddy has with his 10/22. give the gun time to break in and find the right ammo. Im having luck with federal most guys recommend CCI blazer. before you even take the gun out for the first time I would suggest loading the mag (or mags if you bought extra) and let them sit loaded for a few days to a week. this relaxes the spring and allows you to load the mag to 25 and it helps feeding. at least that was the case with mine.

Hi TBell, welcome to the site,

Could you tell us a bit about your criterias? Price range, style, caliber, etc.

We might be able to suggest other firearms.

Personally, I do not own a 715T, but I do own a 702.
Can't say anything really bad about it.

That being said, I handled a 715T at a store once, and really didn't like the feel of the gun. That wannabe AR15 plastic shell is really unimpressive, to say the least.

Well not to picky on the caliber, just something cheap to shoot I already have an sks but would like something to put a few more round down the range without having to reload every 5 sec. Price oh I don't know 300 to 400

Caliber : .22LR seems like a great option for what you want to do. perfect caliber to shoot down range all day and not break the bank, and magazine capacity is not a problem as there is no limit for rimfire.

Gun : Here's a couple of guns you could look into, depending wether or not style is important, that in my opinion would be a better choice than the 715T

- Pietta pps50
- Mossberg 702 plinkster (really, you don't want the 715T plastic shell IMO, and there are 25-round mags for the 702 as well)
- Ruger 10/22
- Ruger SR22
- Remington 597

Sewktbk thanks for the suggestion I'll look it to those but I do like the at look

If you don't mind a the gun being restricted, look at the M&P15-22, which is actually deemed an AR variant :

For non-restricted, the Ruger SR22 rifle is also a very nice black rimfire rifle. Very sturdy, no cheap plastic. It'll cost you a bit more, but well worth it.
