just bought that gun used. Great condition but pump action seems to twist or wobble side to side.

Guns is solid... so my question is :

Is it something to expect from mossberg or from that model ???

Thanks

Mine is/was exactly the same . worked ok for about 7 years of very very heavy use and abuse, then a small guide on the inside of the receiver let go partially and it wouldn't cycle any more. The mossberg gunsmith/ rep in BC here has had it for 2 years trying to get mossberg to go for a new erceiver for it . I am not holding my hand over my ass waiting for that to come thru. I bought it to shoot the 3 1/2" shells as 3 1/2" 870's weren't out yet then. I now have anther 870 in 3 1/2".

mine dose this as well

it also has another agrivating trick or problem it wont feed the next shell if i work the action to fast. at first i though i was just short stroking it, but when i paid attention nope it failed to feed when i cross that point where it lets the next round free is the action is traveling to fast

if you have ant thoughts on WHY it's doing this or a way to FIX it Please PM me. . . . ;)

yes its failing to let the shell out of the tube. i have cleaned this gun VERY well trying to figure this quirk out

it gets very anoying to pop off a shot miss the clay go to take another and CLICK empty chamber

I found that on one of my shotguns, it would do that only when the tube was full. It ended up being the arm that holds the shell back, it was to pointy and would jam into the rim when the first arm let go. If your not to scared have a look at the tip of the second arm and see if you can sand/file it down a hair so it doesn't dent into the rim.

I had a problem similar to what Scout mentioned, except the sharp tip on the arm was tearing a small slice of plastic out of the hull, with every shuck of the pump. Seems that it cured itself after I shot it some more, must have worn it down.:)

ok still doing it, and i have figured out whats happening inside it

i filed down the cartridge interuptor, and thats working great now

the problem is the cartridge stop is jumping in when the action slide bar tang is meeting the cartridge stops tang. it should bo going out like the angles on the faces of the tangs are angled

when the slide is pulled back and the tangs meet the cratridge stop should be going ouside the silde bar. its not, its going inside the slide bar when the tangs meet and keeping a hold of the shell

i'm calling the tangs where the bars have the little 3/32" spots with the angles portions the should guide the bars where they should go

thoughts?

my 835 was a little rough when i bought it but after a dozen boxes of the 3.5 1550 fps it was fine. It has never jammed on me but sometime when you cycle the action the empty shell and the next one will both eject.Other then those minor problems it has been a rock solid addition to my collection. It has fired in minus 30 no problem and it has been full of wheat, barley , mud and you just can't kill it.
