hey guys, i have myself a mossberg 930 field/securtiy combo, absolutely love the gun but id like to add a few things too it and im having trouble finding information on some of the things id like.

I want to "tacticool" it out a little. things id like, and not with the breacher barrel i bought this combo specifically so i wouldnt have that.

- ghost ring sites like on the SPX model
- change the stock, looking for options or companys who carry them
- mag tube extension(yes i know the rules around those)
- different foregrip

And just curious if anyone has seen or had experience with this rail setup i saw from S&j? 12" Rhino rail for the 930

I like "tactical" as much as the next guy, but when the equipment reaches complete pointlessness, its just not worth it.

That to me doesn't look good at all.. it looks like its trying too hard.

If I had the 930, I'd put a side-saddle on it for some extra rounds and maybe a short rail to take a red dot... and just make the mag tube same length as the barrel. Simple and sweet.

well that rail wouldnt be pointless. it would allow mounting of a front and rear sight without gun smithing so im asking if anyone has seen or used one first hand. the 930 comes with a short rail for a red dot but id like grs as per my post. i do agree simple and sweet is best but so far this rail is the only thing that ive found that will allow me to to mount sights myself. not a fan of red dots on shotguns.

It's abit overkill yes. Do I care what anyone thinks? no, because I'm the one having more fun than they are :)

I like it because of the full rail but I went ahead and bought the railed forend as well.

What's that you say? railed forends are for ninnies?

You'll be happy to know, the upper rail is fully compatible with the factory plastic forend.

You can add the ghost ring sights no problem.

Choate is the only other company to make a stock for this shotgun, and it's a pistol grip.

Mag tube extension and railed forgrip, well, see for yourself in the pics :)

When everyone gets the picatinny envy (and they will) you flash some bling on them like this:

BOOM!, hahaha!.

The biggest upgrade the 930 begs for is the bolt handle:

They are both very well designed, but I like the one on the right better, it's much more comfortable when doing fast maneuvers under the stress of competition.

Second is the safety.

All of which can be purchased through S&J. As a matter of fact, everything on my 930 was sourced through them (with alot of begging and pleading on my part)

Does that help you at all? :)

Cyanide Ride is a hard pipe hitting, Bad A$$ 930 mf.

(Sorry, I had Pulp Fiction on my mind!)

He's a good shot and super fast at reloading too, practices a lot.

I had 2 930's I played around with: tacstar side saddle, 2 shot forend shell holder, oversize safety, oversize charge handle, mossberg 590 ghost ring sites put on by Casey at Tac Ord, smoothed the action, barrel threaded for 870 chokes, plugged +2 tube extension making the gun 6+1+1 capacity of 2 3/4" and opened the feed ramp up. I left the stock as there seemed to be only the Choate option and all Mossy's benefit from a conventional non pistol grip stock due to the safety position.

The one thing I didn't like about the gun was the feed ramp, it bit my thumb when trying to speed load, a guy in the States makes aftermarket 3 gun ones, well worth it if the gun is for action sports.

Ebay, Tac Ord and S&J can get you all you need.

Alternatively i'd go with the 22" JM Edition 930 when it gets here, sure to be a good seller.

The biggest things I dislike about the 930 is that loading port and how far back the stock forend comes.

I trimmed it back as far as I dare go, but it still gets in the way of fast loading.

Mind you, this has no custom work on it and the JM 930's are hawt!.

I am eyeing up a very special shotgun right now, but not sure whether to make the jump or not as it will take me away from Mossberg and their very fine 930.

Nothing sadder than to see normal capacity magazines neutered. Pointless unless our Parliament and laws can trump RCMP law-making regarding firearms, which they do not.
On the other hand, go for it. Get the high capacity magazine for the 930. Ghost rings are ok but there is nothing wrong with a bead sight. I believe the US Army 590 and 590A1's have a bead sight (correct me if I am wrong).

I think that rail looks terrific - they actually bothered to make the full length rail look like part of the gun, not an add-on. Most rail set-ups look like the bondo fender flares on a '93 civic.
