I have a mossberg 930 and this gun is driving me nuts. When I load 3 in the gun the first shell fires then the carrier will get stuck and I need to rack the gun to release the carrier. I am cleaning they entire gun.

Assuming the entire gun has been totally field stripped (including the recoil/action spring, follower and tube), cleaned and lightly lubed in the appropriate places...the first thing to do is make sure you are inserting the shells all the way into the mag, past the shell stop. The Mossberg is like the Beretta and Benelli semi-autos...you seem to have to push shells an extra 1/8" into the mag tube compared to Browning/Winchester and Remington offerings. If that's not the problem then run at least 200rds of heavy loads thru it to break it in. If that doesn't work...send it back to Mossberg for warranty or replacement.

Also clean the outside of the magazine tube? Any binding/dirt can slow it down

Alternatively. ..Have you tried manually cycling rounds to see if it catches

try a different brand of ammo

Happens with slugs and trap loads . However I just cleaned the mag tube with a brush, cleaned the ports and gave it a good cleaning so if I get another FTF then off it goes for warranty. Going to run some goose loads and maybe some heavy loads through it.

If it's not working with regular velocity slugs don't waste anymore ammo thru it...the 1oz slugs at +/-1600fps are a heavy load.

Thanks for all your help. I have taken all your advice and cleaned this mossberg 930 and will take it for a test drive this weekend and see how it does.
