Mossberg 930 Safety Malfunction

I have a Mossberg 930 with a 28" barrel that I use for waterfowl and clay targets. It was purchased less than one year ago. It recently started malfunctioning, with the safety off if you fire a shot the trigger then locks as if the safety is engaged ( the safety stays in the off position ) if you turn the safety on then off again it will fire once and then lock the trigger. This happens every time and with different ammunition. The gun has been well maintained with approximately 500 rounds through it. It worked perfectly before now. I tried replacing the safety with a metal type and the ball bearing in the safety is in place and assembled properly.
If anyone has any experience with a similar issue I would love to hear it.

Remove the safety completely, run it and see if it still happens.

I don't run safeties on my Mossbergs, but they're only used for skeet.

Not a bad idea to try. I do want to have the safety though seeing as it spends a lot of time with a shell in the chamber while hunting.

Best suggestion contact mossberg or the closest authorized mossberg warranty centre. In Ontario it is Grech outdoors. They can likely walk you through the issue. Not sure I'd be using a semi-auto shotgun less its safety. Maybe that's just me?

I've been talking with Grech Outdoors. It's going to get shipped in for warranty repair.

Good call. Dealt with Grech a time or 2. Seem to be good to deal with, although they are always extremely busy. Glad you found someone to fix your problem.
