I did a CGN search on the Mossberg 930 semi auto but only find other people looking for them. Does anyone here own one and is willing to give an honest review of it? Everyone says you get what you pay for but all the reviews of this gun I found on google people favoured it over the weatherby SA08 and the Stoeger 2000 which are in the same price range. Thanks

It is the best semi for the money hands down!

I have a review from awhile back. Click my name and under the statistics tab click view previous threads. It will be there somewhere.

I'd paste it myself but am on the Blackberry right now.

I will add it when I'm home.

Bottom line is just buy it. You won't regret it.

Thanks for the link to your review, sounds like you're enjoying yours. I already have a mossberg 500 and love it, now I am looking at getting an entry level semi auto. I tried the local WSS and the guy at the counter had nothing good to say about any of the entry level stuff, contrary to everything else I have read about the 930. I do wonder if it will be durable for years to come.

i just bought my 930 on christmas eve and its my first semi auto shotgun(also own a 500) i love it, cant speak for it other than i havent had so much fun shooting a shot gun in long time. i originally went in to buy the 930 special purpose cause im a "tacticool" fan and liked the breacher barrel but with the wisdom of the great guys from wanstalls ended up getting the 930 field/security which comes with both barrels.

The 930 is a nice gun for the money, I owned a 930 with a 28" barrel and Max-4 camo. I took my first Canada goose and wood duck with that gun. It just seems to have a great fit when you bring it to the shoulder, there is also shims to fine tune it if its a little off. I had the new Stoeger M3500 for about 5 days and sold it, the rib looked crooked and couldnt see myself installing that recoil reducer everytime I wanted 3.5" shells. There are guys here that like their Stoeger 2000 and they have served them very well! One thing I do like about Stoeger over Mossberg is the way the front hand guard attaches to the receiver, it slides into a groove so there is no play or movement of the front stock.

Otherwise the Mossy 930 is a great soft shooting gun that should serve you well, its very simular to some of the Beretta gas semi-autos which isn't a bad thing at all! As far as the Weatherby I have never held one but by looking at the specs it looks more like an light upland semi and not a waterfowl gun. Try and shoulder whatever you buy first, as always!!!

i purchased a few cases(250 rounds) of federal target loads (7 1/2-2 3/4) on boxing day for $60 a case. put about 150 rounds thru it without a problem and this was a gun purchased on christmas eve. ran some 00 buck and some slugs thru it for a while first. i couldnt be happier with this shot gun for the money

Anybody ever had trouble with the lighter 2 3/4" target rounds not feeding?

Granted that's the 935, but still.

I bought myself a 935 just before Christmas strictly for waterfowl hunting. Between weather and other demands I just haven't had a chance to try it yet. Soon as the wind dies down. :(

I did a fair amount of internet research and found very little said against the moss. shotguns, and lot's of fervent fans.

I had originally planned to get a 535, but then decided to spoil myself. :)

friend of mine has one and I borrowed it last year for the goose hunt. was an excellent gun in my opinion. Might consider getting one in the future

I bought a 930 from this site a year ago yesterday. Mossy Oak duck Blind camo. Went to the range and fired 150 rounds right out of the box... ( I know cleaning is recommended) anyways, fired and ejected every one of the 1 ounce cheapos. Shot 2 boxes of shells for ducks. It started dropping a shell from the magazine tube when i would fire. It only did it sometimes. I loved the gun so much i just denied what was happening and hoped it would go away. Well, it continued on and i realized that I havent cleaned the mag tube yet. So i cleaned it and a lot of grime and powed came out on the rag. Next time out it never dropped ONE shell. This is the best gun for the money, and the only complaint I do have in that the recoil pad isn't well made. The glue on mine let go and lifts up a little. But oh well, for the $420 i paided for it NEW in the box, i can't complain:)

I have one
Wood stock, 2 barrel package
Had it about 4 years now, no complaints
Had 2 jams, those were from neglect on my part, it was really dirty
easy to clean, works well, only hasnt liked winchester aa target rounds, everything else has been fine
Never regreted buying it
