Im wondering if anyone has tried to successfully interchange forearm stocks or barrels from a Mossberg 930 to a 935. I know rear stocks are the same, but im not sure if the forearm stock or barrel from a 930 will fit onto a 935. Since 935's are not offered with walnut stocks, Im curious if its possible to upgrade a 935's stocks with the walnut stocks off a 930. And while we are at it, I would also be interested to know if the 18.5" barrels from a 930 would work on a 935.

Has anyone been successful in swapping parts between these two models? Or is there anyone reading this that owns both models that can try it out and report back? I would greatly appreciate the added knowledge

I don't think the barrel or action components are interchangeable. The 935 has an over bored barrel it uses an ulti mag choke. And I believe the receiver and bolt assembly are longer/larger to accommodate the 3.5" shells. The gas ports are larger also. The rear stock may possibly be inter-changeable? But definitely not the barrels or actions. Grech outdoor in Mount Forest Ontario would know for sure.

The rear stocks most certainly interchange. I agree with regards to the action components not interchanging. But really curious about the barrel. The smooth bore 935 barrels are oversized, but the rifled barrels are not. I would think that as long as the design and dimensions are the same (where the barrel lug is located) that barrels may interchange. The mossberg 930/935 owners manual says do not interchange barrels, which tells me that the barrels could potentially swap out, but the danger and therefore warning would lie in the fact that someone may attempt to fire a 3.5" shell out of a 935 barrel that is mounted in a 930 receiver. As for the forearm, i would image that the only issue would be that a 930 forearm may not fit a 935 as the barrel channel would be smaller then what would be required to fit the oversized 935 barrel. Once again, i would think that if this is the case, a walnut forearm could potentially be refinished with the barrel channel sanded to the correct oversize.

Pasting this from another thread to answer some of the questions for this thread....

Well my 930 arrived so I was finally able to compare it to the 935. Both front and rear stocks are interchangeable. The whole gas system and recoil system is the same. As for the barrels, this is where it gets interesting. For the easy part, the 935 barrels will not fit on the 930. Now here is where it gets interesting....i have two 930 barrels; a 26" bird barrel and a 24" rifled barrel. Since the rifled barrel has sights and not a rib, it will not work on the 935 because the barrel slides right into the receiver as the rib is what would stop it against the receiver. The smooth bore barrel fits perfectly and I have no reason to believe why it wouldnt work on a 935. I was able to manually cycle shells through the gun, but be forewarned I DID NOT ATTEMPT TO SHOOT THE GUN! Would I buy a 930 barrel specifically for a 935? No, I dont think that would make much sense. So, there it is....the mystery is solved
