Mossberg 940 JM Pro -- Light Strikes?

Hi everyone!

I have a relatively new (maybe 30 rounds through it total) Mossberg 940 JM Pro, which is light-striking shells about ~20% of the time. I've shot 3 different types of ammo through it so far (00 Buck, as well as some target loads) from different brands, and the issue remains.

The firing pin hits (I can see the primer is dented), but the shots don't go off.
I've only shot it in below zero weather so far, so I suspect maybe that has a hand in the light-strike I'm seeing.

I'm not very familiar with 12GA semi-auto's, so if anyone has any thoughts as to what the issue might be / how to resolve, I'd love your input!
The thing is practically brand-new, so I'm a bit surprised/disappointed.

It also seems to try and double load shots fairly frequently. (Two shells will get stuck near the loading port -- one behind the other, preventing the first shell from loading).

Anyone faced similar issues in the past?

Cheers,

I've never used that shotgun but the first thing I would do is take the bolt apart and clean out the firing pin channel. I suspect there is some factory grease or debris in there and slowing down the primer strike.

For the double loading I would say to shoot the hell out of it with about 50 cheap rounds to see if it needs some break in. If neither one of those solutions work it's defective and you should contact Mossberg warranty. Fortunately, I think it's Wolverine that are handling Mossberg warranty now. The last guys that did their warranty work weren't very proactive. I am still waiting on some parts that I ordered from those guys circa 2015. :)
