Mossberg 940 JM Pro Shotgun Opinions?

Was trash for me despite doing everything I could to fix it.

Wouldnt cycle target loads very well at all. Id avoid unless youre shooting buckshot.

I have the 930 JM Pro. Cycles everything from target loads to heavy slugs. I mostly just use it for hunting, but I like the ergonomics. The only modification I made was to swap in a big safety button from S&J Hardware. Nothing wrong with the one it came with, but I wanted a bigger button and felt like putting in a made in Canada part.

Hey all.

May not be the best place for this.....

Looking at picking up a 940 at P&D while I’m in Edmonton on business. They have them on sale .

Any one have one and what do you think of it?

What's the verdict on the 940 JM Pro? I want one, but also a 1301 tactical. Two different guns, can only afford 1 of them at the moment.

The 940 JM Pro is a competition shotgun, suited to multi-gun/three-gun. It's not a true "tactical" shotgun (It's long), although I'm sure it could be adapted to fill this role. I have only used mine for target shooting, so I can't attest to how it performs as a bird hunting shotgun out in the weather. It has cycled 8, 4 and 00 through it with no stopages yet. I took the time to adjust the stock and it comes up and presents the sight picture nicely without neck craning or having to re-adjust. I do like the enlarged controls and enlarged loading opening.

So got the shotgun out today.

First it shoots high. Any issues I had were operator error. Got my thumb grabbed by the lifter trying to do a double load like Lena Miculek. So was kinda shy about loading and sometimes the shell would pop outta the mag onto the lifter. Trigger reset caused me some "no bangs" I think. Wasn't releasing the trigger far enough for it to reset.

Shot 5x 3" 1 once slugs. Shot 5x 2 and 3/4" slugs. 10x 2 and 3/4" buckshot. And 4 boxes of Remington/Winchester 7.5 and #8 shot target loads. Ran it fast. Got hot. And ran good.

FYI...
