Hello shotgunners, I'm new to scatterguns and have a problem. I have a 500 mossberg my uncle bought new in the 70's and since made it's way to my gun cabinet. It was stiff to pump the action, and after lubing it up and using it, the wooden handle came off the metal part of the pump. (Now when I grab the metal part and cycle the action, it's smooth and free.) Is this an easy fix? Is this a common problem? Help!

Thanks for the offer, but it won't be needed. I tore the gun down and fixed it today. The wood was fine. The metal tube the grip is secured on came loose where it gets spot welded to the action. I brazed it on, put the gun back together and it works perfect. I think the pump was binding between the metal tube and the magazine. ( File and emery cloth fixed that) Now to fix my Dad's 2 shotguns that are busted in the same place. Obviously it's a weak spot on pump actions. I might try JB weld to do the next job, just for kicks.

Take the forearm tube and action bars into any metal working shop, and they should be able to spot weld it for a couple of bucks.
