Just went to my dad's friends house to look at my future shotgun (once I get a gun locker/safe). It was my dad's shotgun before he got married/had kids, so it is from the early 80's, I think. It is a Mossberg Pump-Action, I believe it said "Fieldmaster". It is a 12g, for 2 3/4" and 3" shells. Can anyone tell me about this gun? It is in excellent condition, and I look forward to calling it my own. I will aske the holder (technically the owner, as it's currently registered to him) to take a few pictures so I can show you guys. Anyone have an approximate value too? Not looking to sell, just a bit curious.

Thanks!

More than likely it is a 400g/500a with a 30" full choke barrel... Great shotgun for grouse/small game with lead shot. Will not be able to handle steel shot unless the barrel is bored out by a gunsmith. As for value? I just bought another one in great shape for $125 (which was a steal of a deal). Usually $150 on the low end to $250 on the upper end. New one could be had for $289 at 'C' and WSS.

Thank you very much. I am waiting for the current "owner" to send me a few pictures of the engraving, just so you guys will know what I know, my memory aint what it used to be, and im only 19 LOL

If it does say fieldmaster its probably a Remington

I thought all of the remington fieldmasters were 22 rim fires like the model 572 and model 121. What shotgun was their fieldmaster.?? I don't remember mossberg having a fieldmaster shotgun either just Marocchi but they could have.

Well, don't I look like the fool  Here is a picture. The gun is a Lakefield Mossberg 400g. From what I can tell off my google research, it lakefield was a canadian company that manufactured guns for Mossberg?

Anyways, please share your information and stories regarding this gun.

Cheers
