Mossberg long action in short action 500

Hey everyone. I am looking at replacing the furniture on a 590 shockwave. It has the 6 3/4" forearm. I found a nice walnut set with the longer forearm. I am wondering if anybody has successfully trimmed a longer slide down to fit in a shockwave or similar?
 
Yup, did it for an 870 wooden pump and a Mossberg Surefire pump. A keyhole saw and dremel tool do wonders to counterbore the front and rear of the pump to fit.
