Mossberg/Maverick shotgun question.

I'm in the market for another 18.5" barrel to replace the one for my Maverick 88 (essentially a Mossberg 500) that I sold (like a dummy), now looking at the prices I realized that the 6 shot barrels are pretty close in price to the 8 shot barrels.

So would it work if I manged to find and throw on an 8 shot mag tube, a 20" barrel made for the 8 shot Magazines?

I'm assuming I'd need a longer Magazine spring as well?

Since I have to buy another barrel anyway.

If this would work, who in Canada would have these spare parts for sale?
Ideas?

The springs are already in the mag assy.

Parts are only a phone call away to the USA, both Mossberg, Havlin, and Numrich carry the parts and are happy, and yes legal to ship to Canada.

I was just checking to see if anyone here had taken on such a project, And if they had any insight gunsmithing wise...special tools that might be needed etc etc.

No gunsmithing, just unscrew the mas assy then screw in the new one. Install barrel.
