Hi there. Working on a friend's Western Fields 31A that crosses over to a Mossberg Model 40. Anyways, long story short is that I need a firing pin for this and the original was put only who knows where as it came to me in pieces. So if anyone would happen to have a drawing, or link to a correct picture of one, that would be awesome so I can begin making one. Thank you.

Am away til the weekend but will try to find my Mossberg firing pin drawing and send you a copy. I may have a gun I could trace the pin from(not sure).

Great, thank you for your time and help. As was in the interm, I found a very poor picture online and tried to reproduce what I saw there. I am currently on #3. First one was not properly hardened, and the business end deformed. #2 was a copy of the first, but hardened properly. Then realized it needed to be a hair taller than was made, but did not temper which resulted in a slight bend to the pin. So, #3 is now currently in the oven being tempered, which shall be the final product. Will be busy for a couple of days till I have a chance to try it out.

Made and installed. It does work, however, I still need to make a slightly stronger spring with thicker wire.

The firing pin spring in a lot of old Mossberg 22's is the same spring used in the fold down forends of the 100 series rifles. If you have one of those rifles try the spring for size. I don't have model 40 to check.
