Hi: I had a 835 and I found it didnot fit me like the 535 did so now I have the 535 in camo. I also found the forearm on the 835 real loose compared to other mossbergs I have had.

I owned a 535 for awhile, sturdy enough gun, a fellow I now actually took an 835 to Cuba to hunt Quail he could have afforded and taken any gun he wanted but he took the 835. I would look for an older one, more metal parts in the older ones.

I love my 835 Ulti Mag! It's wicked. Only complaint is that I've had a few shells fail to eject. I had to remove them with my hunting knife. I've had the cheap short brass to 3 1/2 shells with high brass stick in the chamber. I read it was a common problem. BUT I have found that the more I shells I fire, the less it happens now.

my 535 ejects 3.5's no problem. I know some peoples 535's haven't been good to them but so far mine has been good to me. Same goes for 2 3/4's too and 3 barrel camo combo for $539 you can't beat it. I was looking at the 835 but they did not offer a 3 barrel combo and for an extra barrel to get me to 3 would of been close to 1k.

I'm not sure I understand you correct.... Are you saying that the 835 didn't come with 3 different barrels, and to do so would cost you a grand??

835 is chambered for up to 3 1/2" shells, has dual slides, cannot fire slugs out of a ported barrel, comes in various configurations as far as barrel length.....

found this on another site, I just copied and pasted.....

Some aspects of the 535 compared to the 835. The 535 has:
Smaller pump/forearm.
Sling mounts to barrel retaining cap and not studded into the barrel under lug ring.
Lighter weight.
Dedicated choke tubes - never understood why the 535 does not use the 500 tubes. (this is actually incorrect - see bsn's post)

Simplistically, the 535 is a beefed-up 500 model (as far a look and feel are concerned) and the 835 is a larger and heavier version. With the 535 having similar handling characteristics to the 500 model, I have found the 535 to be better suited to lots of pass shooting (dove) and the weight of the 835 soaks up the recoil of heavier rounds much better (duck and turkey).

This is my 835. I bought it before I moved back to New Brunswick. I bought it in Edmonton at Wholesale Sports on sale for like $355
