I’m trying to work up a load for a Mossberg MVP 308 with 1 in 10 twists. I’m using 42g of varget/168g Sierra MK. Groups at 100m are crap 1.5” to 2.00” and inconstant. I’ve went to a heavier 178 ELD match with the same result. I’m ready melt this rifle down, can anyone give me some advice on this rifle/load?

You have not explained your load development. What did you do to find out what load would work?

Why 42 gr of Varget?

What brass are you using?

has the brass been sorted by weight?

How many times has each piece been used?

Is the bullet on the rifling or off? If off, by how much?

This is the right direction. There are many things coming together to make an accurate rifle/load combination. How is the rifle bedding? Is the barrel free floating? Are there other loads that do shoot to your standards in that rifle? what ammo have you used so far? Are the mount screws tight etc. etc. etc.
