Hi there I see this rifle on cabelas. It is tan and has an MDT. Lss chassis. I was digging around here a few posts ago about a good bench gun out of the box. I saw this and wanted to ask, they are fairly inexpensive when not put together in a chassis. Convenient I guess with the mag they take but not sure if the chassis turns them into a shooter or not. If you read my post below you will see I'm fairly new to this and have pretty much zero intention of going this route but curious if any experience with this rifle? With help and info from people here I think I have settled on tikka t3 varmint in 223 but the price point of the MVP in the chassis made me ask

I have the Mossy in the Benchrest stocked version and it is a real shooter. It's not uncommon to get a .3MOA group but .6-.8 are more the norm.
All in all; very respectable for a gun that many people poo poo on just because of the rep that the manufacturer has. I remember when Savage had the same rep back in the late 7os and early 80s. Nobody had much good to say about them, but they invested in quality processes and it turned the name around.
