I'm interested in buying a Mossberg mvp patrol in 223. They are a fairly new rifle and I cant find to much on them. If you own one, or have owned one, please chime in. They seem to be priced all over the map,...$573. to $729.
I like that it uses LAR mags and non restricted. thanks.

I don't have any experience with the 223 but I had a 308 and sold it before ever firing a round, fit and finish was very poor, first generation had a painted wood stock that was heavy, mags would jam up in the action if inserted on an open bolt. I also had the unloaded mag fall out while handling the rifle at home because of how loose the lock up was. I took a bath on selling it too with all the issues.

I have the MVP 308 patrol and I like it and it shoots great here is a link to my thread. There are some haters for sure but some hate it without even shooting one I mean really dude if you never even put a round down one stop going off on them its just sad.

That must be directed at me?

I have shot it a few times after I sold it to my friend at a considerable loss.

It still has all the same problems, so I am unsure as to how shooting it makes a difference in my review that I posted?

I forgot to add how sloppy and notchy the bolt is to cycle, It is virtually impossible to keep the rifle on target while cycling the bolt and if you have weaker upper body strength (woman) it is doubtful you can cycle the bolt with the rifle shouldered.

As I noted above, I had an early model with the painted wood stock that has lots of poor reviews online. I have no experience with the newer version you have with the synthetic stock.

Haven't touched or seen one of these rifles but I've read some mixed reviews.
The rifle that intrigued me a little more is the Ruger Gunsite Scout.

I have never shot the patrol but if it's anything like the MVP varmint 24" rifle or any of the patriot rifles than fit & finish are excellent and both shoot very accurately. I'm very happy with these rifles and prices are good too.

Having shot Ravage's Patrol I can say its not that bad. Last time I shot it the bolt was smoother than the first time when it was in its synthetic stock. Last time out it was shooting sub moa with handloads. It isn't a slick action but it isn't an expensive rifle either. A 700 SPS is rougher out of the box.

The GSR is just a damn fun rifle. I love hitting steel with the factory irons. Mine's in 5.56 and has seen more range time this year than all my other guns.
