Unless set on the 24" fluted barrel I'd recommend the MVP LC, the varmint has a plastic magwell insert that causes some feeding issues with various mags. I have the 5.56 varmint and changed it over to a Mdt chassis and mags fit way better, although haven't made it to the range to test function.
I have the MVP Varmint as well and shoots great for a medium/low cost rifle but don't care too much for the sloppy fit in the plastic magwell either. I've heard that there are after market fixes for this but have yet to get a response from Mossburg or any of the Canadian dealers. I quite like the stock for prone shooting.
Has anyone heard of or know of a fix ( or where) for the poor magwell?
Tromix in the US made some for the 5.56, look really good, Aluminum I believe, selling them on Ebay, can't get them Up here though.
I haven't seen an actual fix but i run at-15 pistol mags and put a few strips of gun tape on the rear edge of the mags and it had solved the issue.
Mossbergs fix seems to be selling the rifle in the lss chassis now, it's magwell has significantly less slop.
Yes it is
