So for a while now I have been looking at a mossberg persuader which I love the look and feel and love the accessories u are able to get. But I recently have seen and held a winchester marine defender, for great price, smaller shell capacity but nice and solid. Now I have heard a lot about the mossberg but not much about the Winchester. Any thoughts or good info?
thanks

They are both reliable shotguns and will do what they are told. The rest is on you and your preferences like fit, ergonomics, price difference, etc. I suppose it also matters as to what its primary function is.

You already said you liked the feel and available options that the Mossberg has. That's whats important.
Don't be swayed by the shimmer of the marine finish.

The Mossberg is solid. One of the most consistently reliable shotguns out there. The SXP doesn't have the legacy of previous Winchesters but it has been well recieved. They have chrome lined bores so with the marine finish it'll be one resilient shotgun. Play with both if you can, neither is a bad choice. I don't like shiny guns so I'd go Mossberg myself but that's just one guys opinion.

Without knowing the comparison price point for these two shotguns....go with the Marine Defender.......it will hold its value better for resale , and should be more resistant to dampness....

I love my new persuader, it's awesome.
The sxp marine defender is Chrome and not nickel plated like the 870 marine magnum.
The chrome is not rust proof. And personally I don't see much advantage to it over a smoothe Blued finish.
The mossberg is american made and I like that. The sxp is Turkish. There is probably not much difference in reliability between the 500 and the sxp but the mossberg has proven itself!
Price differences of less than 100$ shouldn't sway you either way. And, I don't think you should take resale value into account u less you plan on not keeping it.
Take it all into account. If you get the chance shoulder both guns and Pick the one that fits best.
The mossberg won me over in every aspect.
Cheers and good luck:)

cool thanks I have been leaning more towards the mossberg. Just when I saw the other one on sale I didn't know much about it and wanted to see what others thought about the comparison

Turks are not renkowned for engineering, craftsmanship, quality ,mechanical aptitude or any other traits associated with reputable manufacturing.
Mossbergs are made in America.

Turkey has been making shotguns of high quality for many years now. They are quite respected in that regard.

Turks are known for "Men's" bath houses, Hashish, dates , and tobacco .
I don't know of anyone who holds them in high regard as far as guns or precision instruments are concerned.

I've got some Turkish made shotguns that are quite a bit nicer than the Mossbergs I've handled. It really depends on price point and the gun, there isn't just one factory in Turkey. I have an SXP Marine Defender and I really like it. Smooth as butter, recoil pad works well, threaded for chokes, fiber op bead. It's cheaper made than the original Winchesters, but on par quality wise with a standard Mossberg or Remington Express. Was never a fan of Mossbergs, but that's my personal preference.

Thanks, I am looking more at the mossberg I do like the remingtons though. Just now need to see what happens for Christmas and hopefully after Christmas I buy myself a new gift. And Stainless I see your from N.S, I hate you! LOL you just made me miss home
sure wish I was back for the Holidays

I say Persuader, Love mine....
