Mossberg Professional Series 590 and 940 Shotguns

I'm not a huge Mossberg fan, but I'm glad to see them evolve their tactical shotgun line.

So pretty much copying the Thunder Ranch models Mossberg is making, I wonder which came first or if Clint and Thunder Ranch had a hand in the development of both lineups?

Only difference between the two seem to be the low profile protected front and rear sights.
