Anyone know much about Mossberg rimfires? I picked up a model 144 with T-Handle bolt, Lyman target sights, and has the heavy barrel and hand stop on the stock. I am searching for history on it, any comments on its accuracy potential, etc... thus far I found a listing that dates manufacturefrom 1949-1954, but stated front ramp sight, mine has front aperature with changable discs. I have the original Lyman box with a variety of different disc sizes. Appreciate any input. Thanks!

The model 144 was made in different confirmations. Most prevelent was the target models. Perhaps on your barrel is not only the numbers 144 but also a letter or two ( like my 151s are a 51, 151M, 151Ma). The picture of this gun shows a globe sight and it had different appatures provided. Very accurate to my knowledge as I have several Mossbergs in model 151 and they shoot excellent out to 100 yards. Very, very decent for a rimfire.
