mossberg security 88

Topic's been beate to death this summer. Do a search to get it all.

Some may heap poo on the Maverick 88, but mine's been working flawlessly for two years now. Not as modular as a 870 but a hell of a lot of gun for the money

I have a 500, and then bought an 88 with a long barrel for an extra bird gun. I find that the 88 has a very stiff action compared to the mossberg 500. I would spend the extra few bucks and get the mossberg combo ( long and short barrels). It may still come with the pistol grip as an extra.
the stock on the 88 doesnt come with the "eyes" to attach a sling, so you have to hold it all the time, and the polymer stock isnt as nicely finished as the mossbergs either.. it has rough edges to it.
the longer barrels will accept a choke ( mine came with one), but the short barrels smooth bore, so you can shoot slugs.

I'm not that keen on the 88's. I've seen two in the last month with safeties that don't work, and another with a non-functional shell stop - and these were new guns.

i had a 88 with a 28" barrel,it did its job took down alot of ducks with it. i have since sold it and got myself an 870. its like a pinto vs a mustang, spend the extra and get an 870 that way you dont have to buy one later.
