Mossberg silver reserves I or II

Recently discovered these bad boys but theres not a lot of videos on them.

and the EE doesnt have much of the silver reserve I's. How do these shotguns handle for clay sports?
 
If you are thinking about one for league volume clays shooting, think again. The Silver Reserve I had a lot of issues. I don't know how much better the Reserve II is but it is not intended for a high volume clays gun.
 
I too wondered about these o/u. Someone mentioned that unlike the 500 pump and 930 semi which are made in the u.s., these are made in turkey. I think the same assembly line as the Churchills. I am sure Mossberg will stand behind their warrenties but being a Turkish gun, especially one in Canada, i stayed away.

They are not made by Akkar(who makes the Churchill line) they are made by Khan arms. Akkar makes a good quality O/U.

What issues did you have. I bought one when they came out , replaced the soft firing pins and all was good after
Mind you a 28ga and not shot 1000's of rounds

Speaking to the Silver Reserve I, I had a couple of friends who owned them. Like you, both replaced the firing pins, I think one twice. One of them also had a problem doubling. Both no longer own them. These were 12 gauge and would be earlier guns. As I said, I can't say if the Silver Reserve II is vastly improved or not but I doubt it's purpose is for volume shooting. However, apparently the OP stated he won't be shooting high volume so who knows.
 
One of my members ordered in one of their sporting models this spring, I've been watching to see how it holds up, so far it has been good but hasn't been shot a lot yet either. This is the difference between a less expensive O/U and mid-range one, long term durability.
 
Seen a few of these come through our club. All are gone now. Soft fringing pins, poor metal wood fit up that causes cracked stocks. Failure to close with some types of ammo. Not made for a high volume shooter, ahhh ,not really sure what they are made for ?
 
I have personally witnessed doubling with almost new guns, and the firing pins usually give out between 1000 and 2000 rounds. This was with the first version, most people that I know avoided the newer version because of the issues with the first version.
 
The whole reason there is a Silver Reserve II is because the SR I was a problem child for Mossberg.

Not true, some have them with zero issues.
That is quite common in many makes like saying winchester super x1 was junk so they made a super x 2 and x3
Just a redesign after a few years of production

A shooting friend has a sr1.
Came with the worst trigger I have ever encountered.
Parts are virtually impossible to get, so his has been sitting due to a failed spring.
Definately not a volume shooters gun.
