Mossberg US Model 42 MB

I picked this up from a gun show today , as i have a weakness for military trainers

now i have never seen a brit rifle with this rudimentary marks on it before , but as this on dont have a serial number i believe it to be of the the first 2500 sent over on lend lease
if anyone can shed any light on the Z under crown i would appreciate it

I have the same rifle, but no crown under the 'N' . I read somewhere a while back that a large filed arrow with the letter N beside it indicates navy service.
