Got my heart set on a new lever gun for squeak season. Opinions and reviews please. I'm leaning towards the Mossberg.....

I believe that is Henry's youth model in your pic. Its a neat little rifle with a 16" bbl.

I never tried a mossberg before, but I can see it has a tang safety. I know that the Henry's are simpler, just having the hanf #### notch.

I have two henry lever guns on order. One for me in .22 WMR and one youth model for my nephew. I am excied to get them!

I have the Henry Golden Boy, Winchester 150 and Winchester 250 all three are very good rifles...

...I never tried the Mossberg(didn't even know they made a lever 22), LOL, FWIW, their 590 Mariner and 590A1 are great!

Henry H001 is what I have. It's a very nice .22 lever and is a lot of fun to shoot. In fact, it grows on you the more you shoot it. Accurate and the action is extremely smooth and lightning fast. I will be keeping this one.

It is a pricey rifle for what you are getting, in my opinion. The stock set is nice walnut, but the receiver cover is alloy with a black coating like enamel. I don't care for that, and it actually gives the rifle a sort of toylike appearance. Also, the barrel band is plastic. I know there are replacement metal bands, but as far as I am concerned, it enhances the toyish look of the Henry.

I've never handled or even seen the Mossberg, so I can't comment on that one.

I bought a henry .22 mag and it is a great little gun. I have a marlin .44 mag lever also and I would say the Henry has a much smoother action. I have shot both guns alot and never had issues with either of them. Henry makes a good lever gun.

Have Henry 22, 22 mag and 17 HMR. Love shooting them.
All are well built, very slick actions.
Not familiar with the Mossy - they built a lever 22 years ago that was kind of cheaply built.
Suggest you pick up each one at a gun store and feel the heft, cycle a few rounds before choosing.
What is the price on the Mossberg ?

Bought my wife the Henry 22LR for christmas two years ago. When we go camping or just plinking I bring her Henry, my 10/22 and my CZ 452 all in 22LR. Even though the 452 is clearly the most accurate and the 10/22 is semi auto ,it is always the Henry that most of our friends prefer to shoot. Just the look and the way it feels I guess. Incidently although not up to the CZ 452standard it is still plenty accurate.
