I am trying to decide on an all around decent shotgun for clays, ducks, and geese. I have narrowed it down to: Rem 870 Express, Mossberg 835 Ulti-Mag, Benelli Nova Pump, Stoeger P-350, and the Stoeger O/U Condor.I have heard that the Rem 870 has the hardest recoil in the business, and was wondering if anyone has any experience comparing any of the above shotguns. :?:

Thanks.

i fined when im out hunting or shooting clays i dont feel very much the recoil of the gun im using i guess my mined and everything into what im doing and i forget about the recoil

I've got a Mossberg 835 and don't find it uncomfortable at all. In fact my wife prefers to shoot it over my Browning sweet sixteen.

The Nova is on top of the list in terms of quality :D

Let the flaming begin!!!

But seriously, it is. That is why I bought it

I'm with BT there. I had a black nova. I sold it and bought a camo nova the next day. :) Second choice would be the O/U. Not much to go wrong there, especially for an all round gun. U do need to take care of the wood a little though. Hurts me a lot when my Beretta 686 O/U gets rained on :(

I had an 870 and recently sold it, very nice and predictable, but Ive got a few stoegers as well, a condor supreme and a side by side, my condor is a 20 guage and is probably my favorite gun in the cabinate, its awesome quality and very nice to shoot, my buddy has one the same as mine only 12 guage, its a beaut too, I much prefer the quicker shooting over and unders to the pumps.....you cant go wrong witha new stoeger, wat better quality than the russian or turkish o/u's

Have you handled and mounted each of these guns? Reviewing them on paper is one thing. You'll get very different impressions when you handle them and see how each fits YOU. The trigger group on just about any shotgun comes out easily for cleaning - so have the gunshop guy pull out the group on each gun and check them out. Look for overall quality and sturdiness - will it last for 1 generation of hunters or 4?

thanks for the tip grouse man, I will check out the trigger group and personal fit on a few guns. The problem is that I can't seem to get my hands on some of the cheaper Russian or Turkish guns here in Southern Alberta. Not that I want a cheap gun, but I would like to hold one anyway.

The Benelli Nova has one problem; the stock and reciever are one piece, thus the stock is not changeable.
This means that the gun either fits you or it does not. Also, it does not break down to fit into my tiny safe (or I would own one).

The 870 is like the AR15 and the 10/22; you will spend more money or add-ons and extras then you did on the original gun, but this means you can get anything for it that you want.

Just what I have learned

Hi,
I just ended my long search for a new shotgun with the "Yildiz" YZM 12 ga O/U. I did a lot of research and held a few guns, and you can't beat the Turkish made Yildiz shotguns for the money. These guns are very popular in the U.S.A., and have just started being imported into Canada. The fit and finish on these guns puts the Stoeger (and any other enrty level guns) to shame. Watch out, these guns may be popular this year.

I just met the ONLY distributor of these beauties in Canada, so I am not sure how easy they will be to find. :p

check it out at: www.yildizshotgun.com
