Mossburg Patriot in 375 Ruger

This may not help much but I bought a 1500 Howa Stainless 20" in 375 Ruger and it was well under $ 900 if I recall.
I originally had two new 375 Rugers an Alaskan and an African and after trying to work out some frustrating issues with both I sold them which left me with a whole bunch of brass and dies.
So when it was announced that Howa was chambering the 375 Ruger cartridge I did a bit of research and ordered a Howa from Prophet River.
Long story short, I couldn't be happier, but this all happened before there was any mention of Mossberg doing a rifle in that chambering or I might have gone that way instead.
I have no idea what price the Mossberg is selling for or who is selling them in Canada..

I'd hold out for Ruger making one in the American....Mossberg modern bolt guns are....uhhh unrefined to put it nicely.

Search "Mossberg ATR train wreck ".
The only thing with Mossberg on it today that I'd buy and that's a big maybe is a 590a1
And Mossberg sounds an awful lot like Mossburg don't it. :p

I have have read a lot of Craig Boddingtons articles over the years and thank him for his article on the under rated .280 Rem quite a few years back because that's what I've been primarily hunting with. I'll have to read his Sept G&A article ;)
Having said that, he and many other hunting shooting celebrities are paid to endorse products.

I handled a basic Patriot in 300WM. Not bad for under $600 scoped. I put a deposit on a 375Ruger Patriot Safari in the Ceracote and laminate in March at my LGS; waiting for the first one they see.

YouTube review of the Patriot are pretty poor. Moss berg advertised it and made it look really nice on the outside, but when you take a closer look in person, you see why it's so cheap. Buy something quality.

Mossberg 500 and 590A1 series are the only Mossbergs really worth considering. Their bread & butter.

Evidently Craig Boddington (USA gun writer) went on a polar bear hunt with a .375 MossbErg. Don't know if that makes him brave or stupid or just well paid. Story in September Guns and Ammo.

One thing to note: In that article, Craig said that that polar bear hunt was his hunt. A bucket list item. It was strongly implied that he paid for the hunt on his own. Now he never specifically stated that he was not paid to use Mossberg's .375 on that hunt, but it was also strongly implied that he chose that rifle and on his own. It'd be interesting to find out one way or the other. :yingyang:

I would not entertain the idea that he would go hunting anywhere on his own dime nor would i think that he would walk into a gun store and thought to himself that he really needed a new mossberg in 375 for a hunt of a lifetime.

I ordered the Mossberg 375 Ruger because a Sako 85 Kodiak in 375H&H is out of my price range for the forseeable future. Once it isn't I will probably upgrade.

Yeah man, those former USMC colonels are so untrustworthy. Absolutely no credibility there. I don't believe a word they say...er...write...er....something....

For those who do have a slightly more open mind, read the article to see what i mean. He said for a fact that after seeing that rifle at the Mossberg booth at SHOT, that he specifically chose it to use on his PB hunt. His reasoning is explained in the article. He also stated that it was his hunt, he actually used the words "a bucket list item", and it was strongly implied that he paid for it. Whether he did or not is something you'd have to ask him. Either way, i'm interested to at least handle one of the rifles in question to see how good/bad they actually are.
