Mossy 100ATR .30-06 - Need gr advice

I'm leaving in the morning for a deer hunting week. I'm going to the range first to sight in this rifle. I have not decided on if I will be using 150gr or 180gr or not. I think the 150gr would give me a farther range and the 180gr will give me more stopping power but if you had to choose which would you pick and why? I would like to be confident with shooting up to 300 yards.

150 grn out of a .30-06 will kill any deer at any range you can reasonably expect to shoot them. Save the 180's for your moose hunt.

weight used to be the determining factor. Bullet construction is more important now. I use 150 grain Ballistic tips when hunting deer sized game and 150 grain Barnes TSX when hunting Elk and bigger.

Split the difference and go 165... they shoot marvelously out of my '06
