Hey guys this is a general question on Most Accurate Ammo that you've used and got the best groupings

Mostly I'm interested for 1 in 10" twist barrel and ammo sold in Canada :onCrack:

I want to pick up few boxes see the difference if any

ps. I don't reload yet :bangHead:

Accuracy is not the same in every rifle, but I would say Federal gold match would be your best bet... a little pricey though...

If you intend to shoot a lot, invest in some relaoding gear, you'll get better results for cheaper in the long run...

:agree: X2 Awesome advice

I try a box of each of the following ammo in my tactical rifles: Federal Match, Remington Match, Winchester Match, Lapua (from HIRSCH PRECISION), Norma Diamondline and Hornady Match to see what is closest to the optimum loading for that rifle. Hornady is by far the best factory ammo across the board with all my rifles, that I have used. It is consistantly tight in every rifle I have.

Each rifle likes one ammo a bit more than others, my AT rifles love the Norma and are good with the Hornady but not too good with anything else. The Hornady is tight in everything and I am very impressed by it. It is much less expensive than the Federal Match and is Moly coated. It goes for a little over $20 US per 20 rnds stateside in most shops and I have a wholesale source that is just over $17. Federal match is over $37 CAN... plus tax here in town!

I'm going to try Ruag for the first time myself soon and am trying to get my hands on some Lake City ammo as well.

There's a nice comparison of .308 match ammo on the Sniper Central web site.

Try some Hornady, along with everything else and then try some handloads of your own. I have received different load data from other shooters that duplicate their favoritte factoy loads with great success and reloading is fun way to pass the time during the winter. Have a friend who knows what he's doing show you the ropes when you start, will save you lots of time and grief.

10 boxes of Match Ammo $$$=reloading equipment $$$.
You can set yourself up for reloading for what you would pay for 10 boxes of match ammo, that may not work in your rifle. Then you have 10 different lots of brass to work with, or chuck out.
Once you start reloading, you start testing all over again to find the best load for your rifle. How long do you want to prolong finding the best load:p

Different rifle like different loads. You could take 5 Remington 700P rifles, kit them out exactly the same and each one may like a different load. Lets put it this way, when you are shooting the likes of any of the big name match ammo, the groups are not going to be that different, especailly if you are having fun. Buy a box of each and try it, see what is most consistant in your rifle.

Lapua, by a good margin. Don't forget they have several 308 loads and bullets, from 154s to 170Lockbases. I ran a box or two of each of the loads Pete had at Hirsch Precision through my last precision rifle, and it actually liked them all equally, with the 170LBs actually doing exceedingly well.
After that Norma, Sako and Fed Gold 168s.

Wow, thank you all

so much for me to comprehend now :onCrack:
lots of suggestions, I will definately look into each one of them, will let you guys know, soon

just waiting on my new scope and bases/rings :bangHead: Millett TRS-1 and Glen Seekin's

Where would I get Federal Gold or Norma? I haven't seen in much

Federal Gold Medal Match, in either the 168gr. or 175 gr. SMK loading. Try both and see what your rifle likes best. Both are stellar rounds.
Haven't shot either, but from what I hear, you're likely right. That or possibly Black Hills Gold ammo.
