Most accurate sporting .22 ???

Hey all,

As it stands, who currently manufactures the most accurate sporting style (not benchrest type) .22 rifle? I'm assuming anschutz?

The most accurate sporter that's currently and readily available has to be the 54 action Anschutz 1710. CZ and Ruger rifles won't match it.

I dont doubt it. I have seen accurate 22s of all makes but a ruger 10/22 doesnt even compete for most accurate...

There's a few out there, Anschutz, Sako, Weirauch, but personally, as far as sporters go, I would like to give a Lithgow a try.

I second @grauhanen Annie 1710. Walther KKJ would be my second choice.

Factory made rifles are always going to be a little bit "luck of the draw", as individual rifles of a certain make/model are going to have some variance in performance. The "best odds" of getting an excellent performer are going to come from brands like Anschütz, Walther, Cooper, etc. Some old Winchesters are pretty sweet, too.

Did the Win 52 ever get put into sporter type rifles?

I have seen a few bench win 52s shoot and they did really well.

Yep, they made 'em in limited numbers from 1934-1959 and they were works of gunmaking art.

I do love the humour 10/22 now that is funny. I have been fortunate enough to own many Anschutz rifles and all of them have been inherently accurate and in a sporting gun will shoot better than almost anyone on the planet. I have also seen others shoot extremely well but for no roll of the dice I’d be buyin an Annie just my experience has always been positive with them.

America took some gold medals 1936 Olympics with the Winchester 52. Germany went while hog producing its own Model 37?(Mauser) but I don't think thier shooter lineup was at thier best.

Nothing beats an Annie these days.
