Most northern turkeys in ontario

I was at my cottage north end of Haliburton close to Algonquin Park in April 2002, ice still on the lake. I see a big bird walking on the ice. Goose??? get the binos out an determine a wild turkey. They are still around but unfortunately not on my property during the spring season. They've spread further north since then.

Saw a wild Turkey about 2 yrs ago one morning while driving to the gun club at Crean Hill. North of highway 17 about 1/2 hr west of Sudbury! First & only one I ever saw, & never thought they would be this far north. I can't see how they would survive our winters up here though....

They are around Sudbury it was a miss one day on the motorcycle.....around noelville people ask why the turkeys are not doing so good... Easy answer the local people are killing them ?. Seen flyers around Sudbury asking for help for the study for the turkeys and trying to figure out why they are not doing so good..... Like I said before the locales are poaching them .... I heard this ... Two years ago....... Seen turkeys when I was goose hunting out there....I had to look again!!!! I said to my dad holy $$$$$ look at the turkeys on the side of the field.....was nice to see......... most of the turkey population is in parliament hill in Ottawa we put them there!!! These are a super breed of turkeys ..big ...fat ... And ugly... They get this way cause of the food from China and large amounts of money.....a scientist told me this.,,,,,,,,

I've been shooting turkey's quite regularly at the Crean Hill club for several years. Always in the fall. Usually a bunch of Lions around for witnesses. The Whitefish Lion's Club puts on a charity turkey shoot every September. Prizes are about 24-30 frozen turkeys every year.

I haven't seen any WILD turkeys near Sudbury, except for the ones near Field and a few on Manitoulin Island three years ago.

one of the introductions was St. Charles. North bay/Calendar is one area. St. Joes they were introduced before Manitoulin Island because of the flower crying do gooders. They will work areas out, but still snow loads for length of time hurt them at most times.
