What do you think is the most reliable milsurp action?

---> Mosin action
---> Mauser action
---> Enfield action

For me I think the mauser is the most reliable action.

I would say enfield because of it's simplicity. Ergonomically I like the mauser a tiny bit more, but the mauser is also much much more complex, and therefore less reliable.

Holy Crap you guys! You got nothing better to do on a Saturday night then chirp in on some dumb ass question!

The Mauser action is the most famous bolt action in the world. (period)
(Enfield) Ergonomics bahh!, therefore more reliable, bahh!

Now that that is settled, I'm going back for another drink with the wife, you other boys might as well grab yourself a furry mitten and keep pontificating!

well, since he asked about reliability, and not ergonomics, maybe you should change your vote.

I voted for enfield - as I said, the mauser was more complex, and therefore less reliable. Unless you were responding to those before me... in which case, I quietly exit.

P.S. -

Why're you on here at 10 43 your time then?:D

I would argue the Mauser bolt is infinitely simpler. I can take it down completely without any tools needed, and the claw extractor makes it superbly more reliable for the extraction of a spent casing.

Most reliable action

Too silly a question to even ask; the Mauser by far. Controled feeding., Positive extraction, and probably the strongest action made. Most telling of all, they still make Mauser action rifles, the Lee Enfield is now a dusty footnote in rifle history.

Someone had a bad nite last nite :( , I'll give you that the Enfield is a footnote, but dusty????? :eek: With the number of them still in use (even the ones that Bubba got) I don't think they collect much dust :D I know that my 6 don't.

Okay, I'll venture a vote in spite of only having personally used the Enfield, which I own two of and I like. I voted for the Mauser for the following reason: even today, guys hunting dangerous game will look for true Mauser actions for life and death situations due to the Mauser's reliability. They'll even build customs at rediculous cost just to have a true Mauser action. Just can't be said for the others, period.

It is a milsurp action being voted on, not a hunting action!

Different rules completely!

Enfield all the way!

Hey, I stand by my vote. Being as I didn't actually fight through WWII in three different armies, using three different rifles, I'm using the info I have. If anyone actually fought through the war with all three rifles, they should speak up and just tell us the answer; otherwise we've all got second hand info to go on...

Enfield,its also the fastest action.

"it had a particularly smooth fast action,well suited for trench warfare.In such engagements as the holding action at Le Cateau druing the retreat from Mons,the British kept the Germans at a distance by pouring in an accurate,withering fusillade,sustaining a rate of fire double that of the offical war department estimate of 16 aimed rounds per minute."

Springfield for target.
Mauser for hunting.
Enfield for battle.

while i do like the mauser, shoot my friends quite frequently.... a ww2 with all matching #s and full original wood. I have come to trust and love my enfield... prefering it over some of my modern actions. Mine is used for hunting and has always been a reliable rifle... 1943 lithgow
