Yup inspite of being dang close to a hundred years old the Mother of all Magnums is still up to the task. Some say them new ones is better and some say she cain't be shot acurately cuz of recoil but she can still carry the "load"
"Sweet Melissa" my Sako and I spent some quality time today at the range. Threw a scope on that I had stuck on another rifle to harvest my venison last fall, bore sighted then got her on paper with some 300 solids that I don't intend to use for hunting.Stuck some 300Hornady BTSP in her loaded with 78gr 4350 and away she went firing the pictured 3 shot group. I know it's only three shots but heck these things are expensive. Poked a couple more in her and purt near tore the metal plate @300M right of the chains with a resounding WACK that was real easy to hear even with ear protection. Only had to aim a couple inches high to put 'er right smack center.Reckon theyz some moose in a heap a s**t
Last time I crhonied this load I got 2625fps. Sighted 2.5 high @100 she's 9" low @300. That's pretty much point and shoot moose to 300yrds I'd say and just shrt of 4600ftlbs at the muzzle. I shot some hotter loads today after this load but didn't get the accuracy that the big 300's gave
