Motiuk Lower and PDW Stocks

So I ran into an issue a couple weeks ago with my AR lower that Motiuk produced. I tried to install a NEA PDW stock, they call is a CCS (Compact Carbine Stock). It didn't fit, the bars wouldn't clear the lower reciever buffer tube ring area, too much material. Now I want a PDW stock, and was thinking the Maxim PDW might clear that area. If anyone has the measurement between the bars on a Maxim PDW that would be greatly appreciated, the NEA needed 0.100" +/- 0.005" more space between the bars to clear the lower.

Now if the bars do not clear, where can I send my lower to have material removed so the stock functions properly? I'd also send the lower for a Cerakote job at that point, along with the upper, handguard, and the stock so they match (not all black paints are the same).

This doesn't seem like a common situation and couldn't find another thread with the info needed. Any help would be appreciated. The lower is also custom engraved, so using a different lower isn't an option unless this is impossible to have modified.
 
Well, something is wrong because that is not "extra" material. I mean it is, but it's common to 99.9% of all lowers made in the last 40 years or so. So either they messed up on making the stock, or it's just a terrible design.

Good to know, all my other AR's don't have as much material in that area, just thought it was Motiuks design. And NEA could be out on thier specs, I've had issues with fit and function on NEA products in the past.

Not all lowers have that extra material. It is common in certain forged lowers. The forgings I use are the same, likely from the same source.

It appears to be a standard A2 forged lower. Non-reinforced A1 forged style haven't been made since the mid 80's.

NEA out of spec?!!! Say it ain't so!;)
 
I had one of the first NEA CCS stocks sold. It went on the EE shortly after I bought a Troy PDW stock, same design as the NEA but the quality of the machining was way better. I'd honestly try one of the newer PDW style stocks that you can use a normal BCG with. Like the ARC stock, Troy Tomahawk, or the soon to be available Strike Industries.
 
Maxim PDW stock with JP buffer is on its way, pretty sure that'll solve this problem. Thanks everyone for the info on lower dimensions, always good to learn something new.
