Motomaster Wheel Bearing & Chassis Lubricant

it's ok, but others are better- i like the miltek 1 stuff, but you can only get the small sample at this time- basically, the comments you see for the m1 garand also apply to the m14, and the original for that was the white lithium- which a little lighter than your wheel bearing stuff - i've found it tends to make my bolt a little on the "sticky" side- which means it sticks ok but is not as slick as i'd like
 
I have a cylinder of Canadian Tire high pressure moly bearing grease that is at least 12yrs old. (OK, the dinosaurs and fossil ferns are many millions of years old.) I started using it as a real-ly poor man's moly coating. The hard coating technique hadn't become a fixed routine yet, so I was touching the tip of the bullet in grease before chambering. Don't know if it had any effect other than add a step to my shooting procedure. That grease is my new gun grease by default. White Lubriplate lithium grease would be my other choice if I find a wheeling bearing or gear that needs the other grease more.
 
don't use any grease or oil with moly in it on any kind of roller or ball bearing, as in the m-305 bolt roller bearing. Moly causes the bearings to spall, and is not recomended by any bearing manufacturer that I know off. M oly is excellent on sliding surfaces, however.
 
ck out fm23-8, paragraph 25, page 24- lucky for us moly wasn't around or in general use back when this gun was brought into being- good old white lith is all you need- besides, i don't like the stuff
