Hello All!
I have recently gotten a Remington 597 HB .22 LR as my first .22 rifle (Did it a bit backwards not my first gun) I have interest in adding a bi-pod to it i'm only really using it for plinking and paper punching. This would be first attempt at adding a pod to a rifle, I have noticed that it does have the lug on the front of the frame that many bi-pods would use to attach. I have looked around the old interwebs and mostly I see people drilling out and threading it. i don't really have the tools or the experience to do this. Are they other pods that attach a different way? Or another method i could use.

Thanks
Mike

There are barrel mounted bi pods available. Just do a search for 'barrel mounted bipod'. Or if you know anyone else locally that shoots, you may ask them for help. But all you really need is a drill bit to drill your hole and screw it in.

Is that lug for the sling swivel ?
Theres attachments that mount to the sling swivel post for a bipod.
You're local gunshop should be able to help you out.
Don't use a barrel mounted bipod. That will have an upward pressure on the barrel , away from the stock.
When shooting without the bipod afterwards , you'll find the point of aim will be off
