oops... forgot to ask a pretty important question.

While I got the draw for the goat in region 2-11, it is only for Mount Meager.

Now the bridge to meager creek hot springs at the base of mount meager has been out for the last 3 years or so. Called the Squamish forest district and they said no new bridge yet.

I know I can cross the river at about the 47km mark (roughly 10 km's north of the meager creek crossing) and double back around to the base from the other side.

My question is, can I actually hike up to where the goats are? i.e. Not scale a rock wall cause I can not do that but hike I can do.

Please let me know if you have ever hiked mt. meager or the upper lilooet park.

Can I access this in the first week of september without snow gear??

this is the mountain:

Thanks,

Olek,

Why don't you sign on to Club Tread, the B.C. hiking and climbing web site and pose the question about how to access Mt. Meager.

Bivouac.com is good too, but I think it is a pay site now.

Good luck. I've admired that mountain from the other side of the valley many times.

yeah, tell them how you want to kill a goat too

lol.... ain't that the truth....

Something akin to this:

"Hi fellow hikers, I'm new here :), just curious how do I gain access to Mt. Meager due to the bridge being out? Also, anybody have any good mountain goat cooking recepies?"

lol

I think I'll post there though.

Pemberton helicopters say it's about 800 bucks one way to get dropped off there, but I am not sure if I could make it down, plus i'd have to sit for a day since i got transported via chopper, if I chose to do that.

Seriously, I go to Club Tread all the time and ask about hiking routes to the alpine.

They're glad to help.

I've also mentioned what my thoughts are of seeing their dogs off leash on deer and goat trails.

Hmm, don't forget you've got to the the goat OUT, too ;)

Man anytime you say anything involving goats, it sounds perverted

Actually that's logger talk for a smaller road leading off from a bigger logging road, like the spur on a rooster's leg.

Well, he IS planning on 'shooting' some wildlife, true...

Make no mistake (<--- I love those three words, lol) I will be taking a camera and if I see a small goat I am not shooting, with anything other then a camera, sensitive to harvest, etc.

Plus who would not want to see pics or a video of me falling down a cliff trying to get my goat (even though i did not get one at 1000 posts :p :D ;) :p )

Olek

Before you get yourself into alot of trouble....

It is illegal to use heliocopters for the purposes of hutning/transporting hunters etc in BC.

I can only tlel you that the road down to Meager sucks these days, and there is a bridge or 2 out. I rhavent' been down there for years, as there is too much industry and often too many tourists...

I got my cinamon bear & spike buck at the 44km mark last september, buck in the morning bear in the afternoon. So the area is still o.k.

There is a bunch of logging going on etc. but it's not too bad. The hot springs bridge has been out since 2003 i think but the other one is ok, and will be as it is in the canyon and only 30' long or so and well away from any rising currents. :)

Now if I do get the goat, I'll swing by your place so you can tell me if it is palatable, lol ;)

p.s. I thought it's ok to get dropped off by a chopper, etc. You just can not hunt "right away" or something. But at 800 bucks one way i doubt i'll be doing any scenic tours of the mountain.

Not legal to use a helicopter for any hunting purposes in BC, regardless of when you exited the aircraft.

Fixed wing planes have a wait time.

Oh ok. Heh... not like they would see me ;)

^^^^ha ha joke joke^^^^
Hypothetical
Situation

You beat me to it gatehouse ..........transporting Hunters or game with a helicopter is an offence under the wildlife act...........no person may hunt within 12 hours of being transported in a fixed wing aircraft
