I was one of the lucky eight people drawn for Alberta mountain goat this year. Took this 9 1/2" billy last week, at 262 yards with the 270wsm shooting a 140gr TSX, one shot instant kill, was a highlight hunt for me for sure!

Yes, the hunt was in the Willmore. It was a nine day horseback hunt, with my brother. Noel - they're fairly big animals, we didn't weigh our packs when we got back to camp but they were heavy going down the hill, probably in the 70-80 lb range.

Nope, only eight. One in each of 8 different areas, and it is a once in a lifetime lottery draw, once drawn you cannot apply again.

Well it sure looks like you had a once-in-a-lifetime experience, and nice to see the tag get filled. I'm sure there will be fellows that apply their whole lives and never get a crack at that tag.

Congratulations on the goat, from the looks of the photo in would have been a hunt of a life time.Hopefully that will be me next year here in B.C

Thanks everyone! It was definately the hunt of a lifetime. It was the fourth goat hunt I've been on, but first as the shooter, so this one is pretty special, to me, anyways. I had planned on buying a guided hunt in BC until I found out I was drawn this year in AB.

I won't kill another goat in my life, but I hope everyone who gets the chance to go goat hunting gets a good one, it is a very cool hunt to go on!!!!
