I may be chasing a "lost cause", but I am trying to attach a Hensoldt Diatal 4x32 scope to a Husqvarna 4100. That scope does not have a windage turret - only an elevation turret, so the base assembly needs to be windage adjustable. To compound the dilemma, someone previously removed the rail that would have lived along the bottom surface of the scope tube - it is now relatively "round" but at 26 mm diameter. Hensoldt Wetzler either became or was bought by Zeiss - very, very nice glass, with a 2 1/2 to 3 MOA "dot" at centre of cross hairs.

I attempted to modify a Beuhler mount system that was marked "W" (for Winchester Model 70) - the rear base needed to be reduced in height - not certain that I have got the thing "stress free" - I believe the front base, or the front ring post, has been abused and distorted.

So I am looking for suggestions of possible "new" mounting components to try - the Husqvarna 1600 series receiver seemed to be happy with the Weaver #46 and #55 bases - so essentially a small ring mauser contour - without the stripper clip ledge. The rings would need to be for 26 mm scope tube - based on the shims I found in the Bueher rings, I suspect these may have been 1" rings that have been "sprung" and/or possibly lapped in an attempt to fit that 26mm scope body (rings, bases and scope came together in one parcel). And the system must have windage adjustment in the mount - there is no windage adjustment in the scope itself. The rear receiver bridge now sports three 6-48 threaded holes - both the .504" spacing used by Weaver, and an addition hole for the .860" spacing used by some other bases.

Any suggestions of what is available these days in that sort of combination would be appreciated - Leupold, at least on their website, does not get me very far...

I have used Leopold 26 mm rings with success on a BSA model D 303, using a one piece Leupold base with windage adjustable rear ring. Dont know if Leupold still makes the 26 mm rings, but they did at one time. An ad in the EE sourced my rings.

Thanks, RePete. That is one ad that I had found not particularily helpful - I do have Husqvarna rifles built on both m98 size receivers and two on commercial m96 (sort of) size. So, I have asked them the question whether it would fit or not - we'll see what they reply. Would still need to track down some sort of 26 mm rings to go with it...

Cosmic - thanks for confirming that 26 mm Leupold rings even existed - I did not know that - do not see them listed on Leupold website.

Thanks for the leads!!

1 inch Weaver rings can be machined to 26mm. We used to do that back in the 60's, early 70's. Hang half an evenly tightened 1 inch ring 1/2 way off a 1 inch 'stub'... machine to 26mm. Do that to both rings... then hang them off a 26mm 'stub' and machine what's left to 26mm with a small overlap... not perfect but close enough.

Thanks, guntech - I may get to having to do that - kicker for me is the requirement for windage adjustment within the mount system, so not aware of windage adjustable Weaver mounts - but no reason I can see why the idea would not work on 1" Leupold STD rings - shim the ring / cap gaps to be "solid" ?? I had also considered using a 26 mm straight reamer, but not coming up with a way to do two rings and be somewhat "concentric" to each other??

Leupold had one piece bases to fit, and 26mm rings - possibly pretty rare now. Beuhler also made a one piece base that could use 26mm rings - somewhat less "pretty" than the Leupold. But my preference for a nice tidy classic look would be Conetrol. Two piece bases, very tidy, quality, available in gloss or matt. And they are very easy to deal with, know their stuff.

Buy Leupold STD 30mm rings and sleeve them. They are readily available. The mount is windage adjustable so that is taken care of.

If you want to stick with Weaver bases, you can use Millett rings, which are windage adjustable. Millett dont make 26 mm rings, but you can modify 1 inch, or sleeve 30 mm rings....

Yes, Weaver made 26 mm rings. They are marked 1.024" down in the curved area of the aluminum bottom. But, they were not windage adjustable, at least none that I have had in my hand.

I don't know whether this will be helpful, but on the Gunboards site, there is a sticky involving scope-mount bases for Husqvarna rifles. I've attached the link below:

This is the go-to forum for Husqvarna owners. You might pose any questions you have about your rifle there. There are a bunch of very approachable and helpful guys there.

Your rifle is on the Husqvarna 1600 action. Conetrol may be your best bet. They are available in 26mm. and are windage-adjustable. They're slightly more expensive than other brands and are a bit fiddly to install, but are really beautiful and rock-solid. I've recently installed a set on a Schultz & Larsen rifle.

No expert. I've a 98 that just wears a replica Mauser SSR...its sporting a 26mm tube dia and is windage adjustable as you asked.
Mind you it does give you that German sniper, head up like a Turkey gobbler stance.

Conetrol makes 26 (and 26.5mm) rings and ‘DapTar’ bases for weaver mounts ..... the opposing cone screws that secure the rings to the bases provide some limited windage adjustments. If you contact them they can tell you how much windage you may be able to achieve
