Mounting a Bipod on a full military No4 Enfield

Hi All

I was wondering if it is feasible to somehow mount a bipod on a full military No4 Enfield without permanent modifications?

Try taking the sling swivel out of the middle band.
And then I ask myself, Why?

The barrel on a No4 is free floated in the stock. It was designed that way. Be aware that your idea will affect the POI and accuracy of the rifle. For maximum accuracy you want to rest the rifle on the wood stock. Maybe get an F Class bipod with a front rest and lay your No4 on that to shoot?

Early in the great '39 to '45 messiness, the Allies found themselves short of light machine guns. The solution for training was to fabricate a fore end band with an angle handle like a BREN gun, and hang an improvised bipod out near the front band. Non sponsor IMI in the US lists but is out of stock on a .303 Lewis Gun bipod with a big collar to go around the cooling jacket. That might give you some ideas.

Easier to do on a K31.
Note how bipod attaches to bar held in place by front action screw and padded U-channel to prevent variable pressure on stock.
Everything comes comes off with no damage to rifle.

From the knox form to the beginning of the front band, yes. That last inch or so of the barrel is supposed to exert a few pounds (4-7) of upward pressure on the barrel.

I don't get why people don't just bring a rolled up blanket or ammo box to use as a rest if they need one...
