Mounting a sling on a bps

Have a synthetic stalker bps would like to sling
Was looking at a mag cap And the drilling a stud in the buttstock
Thoughts?

I did exactly that circa 1990 with a 26" modified choke 12 gauge BPS. Seemed to work fine. I do not remember if that was a "kit" or if I "home made" that. Not everyone will agree that a stud into the underside of the butt is a good idea, but some of us think so. - But that stud needs to be installed centered and straight - at right angles to the line of the underside of the stock, not at right angles to the bore line - I would use circa 3" to 4" (8 to 10 cm) from the toe of the recoil pad as minimum location - does not look "right" to me to have a sling QD stud really close to the butt plate / recoil pad. You probably want to drill a sufficient pilot hole so that the screw does not split that butt stock. You might want to "touch" that first with a flat faced (forstner-type) wood bit to get a flat surface for that stud to snug up against. The one that I worked on had a wood (walnut?) stock - no clue how much "meat" is on a synthetic stock to anchor a QD stud??

The Miner's instructions arr spawt'awn.

One I did I managed to splinter the wood when the base of the stud touched it whilst turning it in.
A gewber rookie mistake............:slap:

An alternative that I had seen pictures, but never used - was a sling with a "loop" on rear end that snugged around the pistol grip area - idea was that while "hunting", the sling is rolled up in your pocket - only used the sling as a "carry strap" for the trip out. I have also seen leather butt cuffs with integral QD studs - so can wrap / tie that onto the butt, and have the QD stud, without drilling a hole into the stock. I think the ads for them that I saw were for lever action Win 94, but no reason same idea would not work for pump action shotgun?

Sounds like you already know exactly what to do. Pretty easy job - have at it! If you don't want to drill the buttstock, there are slings that have a loop that cinch up behind the grip - work pretty good.
